August 9th, 16th, 23rd The Department of Transportation is looking for additional volunteers to participate as walking and riding marshals during Summer Streets. Summer Streets is the largest and most important car-free event this summer and having quality volunteers is critical to its success. For six hours on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 9th, 16th and 23rd), the DOT will close 90 consecutive blocks of streets to motor vehicles and open them to people for walking, biking, dancing and many other recreational activities. There are 88 walking marshal positions and 75 riding marshal positions that need to be filled per event, making your help crucial to the success of this event. If you can spare some time to be part of this fun and historic event, sign up to volunteer at Summer Streets at: nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/involved/volunteer.shtml. Link to the Action
