Summer bikers will be able to take a free ride around Governors Island.
Starting this Friday, bicycles will be available free of charge every Friday through October 4.
The island has over a mile of car-free roads and views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
The program is sponsored by Transportation Alternatives, a group promoting better bicycling, walking and public transit in New York City.
The City Transportation Commissioner says the program will test whether bike sharing could work in other parts of the city.
