As of Spring 2001, all of the Manhattan East River Bridges provide 24-hour bike and pedestrian access for the first time in at least 50 years.

In New York, “the city of bridges,” it can be hard to get to where you’re going by bicycle or rollerblade. Negotiating the city’s bridges can be tricky, and many of the city’s bridges are difficult or impossible for cyclists to cross. In addition, a number of recent construction projects have been holding up bicycle access on some of NYC’s most important bridges.

That’s why Transportation Alternatives has put together this guide to NYC Metro area bridges.
