NYC DoT, "NYC Bicycle Statistics, 1990," Table 1, shows 10,930 bikes crossing CBD screen-line daily. We added 15% to this figure to corrected DoT's undercount documented in M.F. Dunham, "Assessing the Percentage of Bicyclists in the Traffic of Manhattan's Central Business District," Feb. 1991, plus 20% to reflect cycling between 7 pm and 7 am. Thus, the corrected estimate of bikes crossing CBD screen-line daily in 1990 (rounded) is 15,100. Other counties are calculated from figure for Manhattan CBD and figures in row (4). |
