Union Square Park Reclaims Parking Area

The Parks Department announced that it will expand the southwestern corner of Union Square Park in Manhattan by 10-20 feet, reclaiming a paved transit police parking area with 20,000 square feet of new green space. The next major challenge is for the City to transform the park's southern border at 14th Street from a pedestrian nightmare with few safe crossings into a true gateway to the Greenwhich Village neighborhood and points south.
