The Vanderbilt Motor Parkway Greenway in Fresh Meadows, Queens has been extended over one mile westward and now totals three miles in length. The stretch of greenway previously stopped at Hollis Hill Terrace, but it now continues northwest to the Long Island Expressway Service Road. The new extension is an important link with the 73rd Avenue bike lane and creates a continual bike lane/path connection between Flushing Meadow and Ally Pond Parks. The generous 12 foot wide path provides an exceptionally scenic and serene biking experience. T.A. thanks the NYC Parks Department for moving ahead with the NYC greenway network and especially for closing the gaps between existing bike paths. Write to Parks Department Commissioner Henry Stern and thank him for the progress on the greenways. Henry Stern |
