"Cherry Walk"
Path on the Hudson Completed
In December, the Parks
Department completed the Cherry Walk portion of the Hudson River Greenway
between 100th and 125th Street along the Hudson. The path offers spectacular
vistas of the river and the George Washington Bridge. Cherry Walk's completion
is encouraging, and adds urgency to efforts to complete the Riverwalk path
project to the north and south. However, the path emphasizes how the Henry
Hudson Expressway has destroyed this gorgeous portion of the waterfront. The
finished Cherry Walk is a pleasant enough place to zoom past on a bike, but
will probably overwhelm many pedestrians with constant, pounding highway
noise.
