The great folks at Transportation Alternatives have been fighting for a car-free Central Park for over 30 years. This video was shown at a rally for over 800 people in Oct 2004. About a month later, positive changes were announced by the NYC DOT including an extension of some car-free hours, the closure of 6 entrances, and some additional amenities, but the goal remains - a completely car-free CP is what is needed and deserved for the citizens of NYC.
